What does a great Family Advocate do?
A great Family Advocate ensures families in the TASS (Trauma Assimilation and Social Stability) program receive consistent, high-quality support. Serving as a case manager and client advocate, they work closely with 1–2 therapists to conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, maintain records, and help clients navigate barriers. Advocates guide families through a strengths-based, skill-building approach—helping them access needed resources while building the problem-solving skills to use those resources independently.
They also manage clinical activities on the shared site calendar, assist with hiring evaluations, and ensure site coverage during client sessions. Because MAP operates as a training center, this role requires comfort in a dynamic learning environment, strong collaboration with peers and trainees, and accountability for getting things done—whether directly or through others.
