What does a great program assistant do?
As the Program Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of MAP’s programs and onsite events. Your work will help ensure a welcoming, organized, and supportive environment for our clients, staff, and visitors. Core responsibilities include:
Client Support & Front Desk Coordination
Greet and welcome clients, guests, and site visitors
Assist with answering and handling client intake calls
Help maintain a warm and professional client-facing environment, including managing the coffee bar and general common areas
Program & Event Support
Assist in preparing materials and space for client activities and onsite events
Provide onsite childcare support during select sessions
Support coordination of graduation and alumni events
Assist with Cake4Kids requests and distribution
Assist with updating and maintaining resource lists and client-facing materials
Inventory & Donations
Help manage and organize program inventory and supplies
Organize and maintain records of in-kind donations and inventory.
To be successful in this role, you must…
Provide dependable administrative and logistical support to MAP programs and staff, including coordinating activities, managing in-kind donations, and assisting as needed.
Support a clean, welcoming office environment by assisting with shared upkeep.
Participate actively in staff meetings, required trainings (including trauma-informed care), and annual staff appraisals
Follow all organizational policies, including maintaining a drug-, smoke-, and weapons-free environment.
Must be able to lift and carry children and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and stand for extended periods of time.
Take initiative, communicate clearly, and be flexible in handling other duties as needed to support the MAP mission.
Support fundraising events by helping plan, set up, host, and clean up.
Qualifications for consideration:
Current enrollment in a college or university program (social work, psychology, human services, education, or related field preferred)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
Ability to build positive working relationships in a team-centered environment
Comfort working with vulnerable or underserved populations (experience preferred, but not required)
Must be able to lift and carry children and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and stand for extended periods
Schedule: Flexible start times based on organizational needs; primarily within Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM.
Training Provided: Trauma-Informed Care, Program Operations Overview, and Client Engagement Essentials
